Your Thoughts on the Season Ahead and were will your Club Finish

  1. From what I have seen and heard during pre season it will be a close year all round I would suggest,
We (NR) have been destroyed by intra state and interstate departures, but still a good mix once we get it right, not too concerned with hudson Cup form, but will have to a have a massive effort with no or very few injuries and suspensions to get anywhere close to 2009.

Dev sound as though they have lost a couple and should come back to the pack aswell.

Knights much the same as last year with a couple of inclusions, my outside tip for the title with Burnie this year.

River, same old same old, will take plenty of points off top clubs and will make the top four.

Set, sounds like its bottom four for them from what I hear. Have a big heart though and will pull points in grudge matches.

Ulvie will fancy their chances to make the top four this year, I wont be surprised if they do.

Burnie will be up and about, a fair few back and some good recruits, may just take the cake.

City back in the mix, not sure they can win anything though, however, wouldnt surprise me if they did.

    Launceston = no points!

  2. I think top 4 - Burnie, Port, Ulvie and River.
Think River will finish top if they get off to a good start, must win early games.
But Capt your right tight right thru and teams will need luck to finish top 4.

  3. seems to me that devonport will as always represent the coastal teams quite well. they seem to be able to attract quality players from outside what may be conceived as their zone as well as gaining good youth from the greater devonport area.for mine another top four finish..burnie from all accounts seem to be the team that has progressed the most this year with players returning to the game, and some pain at somersets expense, augurs well for them.hopefully ulverstone get there, some great young blokes and in my opinion a progressive group of members, maybe they deserve something. so along with burnie anoyher top four spot. still think city have improved greatly ,but just cant get on board while theres breath in me.sure rangers have lost a few but chocolate to doggy poos... nah.then maybe the mob that i support might just be getting it together .the losses have been well covered, with duffy (BAD BOYS man) murphy who seems to be ready to have a real go,good news for me is tom compagne back interested, with his son andrew looking real good and matty sessay commiting himself to a full season.sorry nigel riverside did not impress me at all last week, yeah they have got the hughes effect ,but that on its own.. not good enough.lton and somerset not your year,

  4. Well Beckham, Duffy's at Knights then, I had heard City, now that changes everything
    :)

If Knights can get some consistency into their game, I am sure that they will be in the top couple, especially if Seesay plays a full season and works on his pace
    :)

Never, never underestimate Devonport, a great club with some fantastic juniors coming through, well coached and always in the title hunt, but a couple of big losses from last year may hurt.

River has a few more than just the Hughes boys, and looked close last year? Notorious slow starters, need to jump out of the blocks this year and will take some stopping, if they dont, then same old, same old "if only"?

Rangers, looked great in most games last year (also pretty ugly in a couple), have had some big losses (including coach) which could find them mid table unless a few step up a gear or two (which they can easily), come on Todd have a go (PS - dont wear that grass skirt)

City have recruited well, and hopefully get back to the passing game that they were developing early on (no more kick and hope all day), then they will push everyone, they are not that far away again?

Ulvie, have developed into a good young side and will improve on last year, I suggest that if they cant crack the top four this season then they will all have to take a good hard look at themselves - teamwork and discipline?

Burnie haven't got all the guys back that they had hoped, but I am sure that Sam will keep them honest and get the best out of the Emu's - could be the dark horse, but will need everyone fit and working as one?

Sharks may have lost the majority of last seasons seniors, but as Beckham says, hopefully they can show plenty of heart and put the effort in that's required - but need to gel from day one to be competitive?

As for Launie, how could they lose the Duffy's, I am sorry, but if they haven't recruited elsewhere to cover the losses then they will be the whipping boys again?

  5. Hi Captain, I see you have taken up refereeing fights now
    :)
Hows it all going up north, I gather all clubs still getting on as well as ours
    :)
How is Mark Ambrose, rumors have him either out for good or out for the season, whats the injury, hopefully what I have heard are both exaggerations?

    You still having a kick?

  6. If last weekend was anything to go on launnie city will struggle. Rangers have a lot of young lads stepping up, and should be a pretty decent team again this year. perhaps not champions, but should still push top 4. Funky is working in burnie, and while he's been to a couple trainings (at burnie), he doubts he'll play much if at all, as he finds himself too busy. We'll see though. Launnie utd to get smashed again and again. Comp should be VERY even this year though. personally can't wait!!!

  7. bad boy errrrr. I suggest you watch a reds game on a sunday. Do you think they are in the final because of no teamwork and no discipline??

  8. No Ringo....they are in the final because Rangers are rebuilding and getting numbers back on the park and all other Launceston sides are fairly ordinary...How did Ulvie go in the North-West Cup? Lost every game didn't they? However, having said that...I do wish your boys all the best against South Hobart today...

  9. Sorry Ringo, you misunderstood, it was meant as keep up the good teamwork and discipline and then get the results. All the best

  10. Bad Boy, Tams is correct, Funk at burnie if at all, injury he copped in the game against Devonport has never been 100% since, and I think that is influancing his decision wether or not to get back into it. Not sure its anything that will stop the lad coming back soon (12months), hopefully back in the red blue and white, he has become a fav son!

Not sure what you mean about fights? Im trying to have a clean sheet now, so I dont plan to be involved in any as a ref or in the cage!

I will be having a kick, thanks for asking! played a few Hudson Cup games, but got hammy trouble! Havnt let a goal in yet, so the boys at Rangerland are pretty sad as they wait all week for a clanga from myself! Taken up my first coaching role actually with the 16's, might concentrate on them if I enjoy it, but I never miss the trip to the end of the world, so Ill see you then at least! Congrats to you guys on the club rooms, looks great on the website. on that note, keep up the good work on the site, good to see another good one, just keep updating it and watch the hits rack up! We are going to do live scores from the NTCA this year just because we can! anyone with internet on their phone will be able to see how we are going, wil try and do it on the road too!

Launy Clubs are actually getting along ok, in that we arent going around stealing each others players. City flew a couple out from the UK, one hated it and went home, the other is a nice bloke and is coming over to Rangerland! Knights lost a few and found a few, must have flown theirs in from Africa? haha! River look to have kept same side and will be a handy handful for all from what I saw today, picked up a defender which is what they needed! and well Launny will be at the bottom for a few years to come!

Rangers will be alright, its a shame how we lost soo many as a result of leaving town, except Conno and Muppo who hung the boots up at 28 years of age. Conno might come back next year, Muppo? who knows, took over the family business with a workmate, so I guess he will need to concentrate on that. Got some really good young guys coming through, and some on the way, We will really need Bremner to play 10 or more games though, he was brilliant last week against City! Whitemore fitting in realy well and got the boys going ok, few of the kids just gotta losten a bit better!

  11. Not real fights mate, just the little digs that a couple had on here earlier from the Sharks and Emus over Sharks supporters being too vocal, saw you told em to grow up or something
    :)

Good to hear your having a go at coaching, hard job but can be fun, especially if they listen and improve
    :)
