Northern Rangers announce Coaches for 2010 Women’s side

**********Press Release**********

Northern Rangers announce Coaches for 2010 Women’s side.

Northern Rangers Football Club would like to announce its Women’s Team coaches for 2010.

Ian Loft has been promoted from the Assistant Coach position to the senior role, and the cub has gained 25 years of coaching experience from the new Women’s assistant coach, Jason Smith.

Loft has been the Assistant Coach for 3 years, under then Coach John Crooks, and has accepted the step up to be Head Coach. Ian has been actively involved in the club since Northern Rangers joined the NTJSA in 1996. Assisting in junior roles, as well as a stint as Men’s Reserve coach in 2000. Loft is a life member of the club.

Jason Smith joins the club for the first time and has been a Junior Representative Coach for over 25 years.

After Jason’s recent win in the Examiner IGA Junior Sports Award for Service to sport, Jason Smith says he feels it right to “get back into” senior club coaching. His last role as a senior club coach was with the Launceston Soccer Club State League Reserves side in 1998. He more recently coached the Northern Women’s Rep side in 2006, along with assisting with the State Under 15 Females side in that same year.

Smith has also played soccer for some successful clubs, and is looking forward to assisting Ian Loft in making the Northern Rangers Women’s side a force in 2010.

The Northern Rangers committee feel having an ex player of Jason’s calibre and long term coaching credentials apply for the position is a coup for growth of the Women’s side in the Northern Women’s Premier League.

The Club is also seeking to put a girls Under 16 side in the NTJSA this year, and this will help feed the Women’s side in the future, as well as give the girls a clear pathway to continue their soccer in future years.

The NTJSA sign on night is Wednesday the 17th of Feb at the NTCA number 2 ground starting at 6pm. Light refreshment will be provided.

Women’s side training is currently on Monday and Wednesday Nights at the NTCA from 6pm.

All interested ladies and girls wishing to join the club in either Under 16 or women’s sides are encouraged to contact club secretary Brendan for details, on 0411 134 898, or check out the clubs web site at www.northernrangers.com
