KURT REYNOLDS APPOINTED LAUNCESTON CITY SOCCER
CLUB SENIOR CLUB COACH FOR 2010 & 2011
Launceston City Soccer Club is proud to announce the appointment
of former Australian Young Socceroos Captain and ex National Soccer
League Player, Kurt Reynolds, as Senior Club Coach for the next 2 Seasons.
Reynolds will take over from Peter Savill, who will retire from Coaching
after developing a competitive young squad over the last 2 seasons
following a major rebuilding phase within the clubs playing ranks.
Club Secretary Tony Rossi, confirmed that City is looking forward to the
coming season with some optimism and excitement, after completing a
rigorous process in locating suitable coaches for the coming season.
Rossi added, “The Club is excited to welcome back one of our old boys
after a 25 year absence – our only Australian Representative Player. Kurt’s
appointment will enable the Club to continue to develop youth and in turn
assist the Club in achieving gradual improvement towards the ultimate goal
of regaining our position as one of the leading Soccer Clubs in the State.”
He added, “City’s feeder Club, Westside Devils, is one of the largest
Junior Clubs in the state & continues producing a high number of quality
players of both sexes, so we’ve really had to look at investing in suitably
qualified high level Coaches who will assist these youngsters as they
progress into Senior Soccer.”
Reynolds last played for Launceston City in 1984 before being selected into
the AIS football squad where he spent 2 & half years under mentors Jimmy
Shoulder & Ron Smith in Canberra. Reynolds has recently returned
to Australia after spending the last 7 years working in the Middle East. A
seasoned professional athlete, who has experienced the Australian Youth
and Senior Development programs, Reynolds possesses an abundance of
playing experience at National and International level. One of the
highlights of his career was captaining the Australian Young Socceroos at
the World Youth Cup, Chile , South America in 1987. He has played over
150 National Soccer League games & holds an Asian Football
Confederation “C” Advanced Level Football Coaching Licence.
Reynolds will be ably assisted by long serving Club stalwart, Lino Sciulli who has been appointed
as Reserves Coach. Jason & Jenni Jones will continue in their roles as Coaches of City’s 2
Womens Premier League Teams. The Under 18’s Coach has yet to be appointed.
Rossi also confirmed the following information:
- Reynolds will be in attendance at the Launceston City Soccer Club Xmas Family BBQ
on Friday 4th December at Mitsubishi Park from 7.00 pm.
- Formal pre season training to commence in early January 2010 with all existing and
new players welcome to attend. Further details will be made available via the Club’s
website.
- Launceston City is exploring plans to develop a “Pre-season Cup” involving a high
profile interstate team across both Men’s & Womens Soccer.
- Launceston City Soccer Club was founded in 1958. In Season 2009, it boasted in
excess of 105 players across 7 teams.
- Launceston City Soccer Club’s feeder Club, named Westside Devils Junior Soccer
Club, which has in excess of 400 players registered.
- Launceston City Soccer Club & Westside Devils Junior Soccer Club home base is
Mitsubishi Park in Prospect
- Mitsubishi Park is one of the State’s largest Sporting complexes hosting 2 senior size
soccer pitches, Club rooms and sits adjacent to Prospect Park
