  3. For the second week in a row I decided to try and catch a womens game over the week end,and is it just me or has the womens game reverted to just being a social event?
Thought i'd go and watch the UTAS game while in Launie got out to the Uni with family in toe, nobody in sight, dissapointed headed to Birch ave in case it had been transferred,no! so over to Mitsubishi,to see the City/Knights game, again no game!!!
After wasting my families & my time called it a day went to watch another sport.Checked the results for the week end,
no less than 3 forfeits & Chelsea Smith playing for the Allies!!
Any gains made in regards to the womens game over the past couple of years has been eroded in one foul swoop!the clubs (it appears) really don't treat the women's game serious enough to stop this ridiculous "Social Culture"creeping back in, this is a Premier League and should be treated as such by Clubs.
I wonder if the clubs will be given any form of future deterant (Fined or Similar).
I know people pay to play and being Easter week end,Family comes first if so FFT need to make the weekend a bye for all clubs,as it appears it also affected the Statewide cup in the male game.
I still can't believe I have attempted to watch the girls play 2 weeks in a row,and not seen 1,I think i'll give it a miss in future, changes to games are not being passed on to supporters so people will walk like me,would it happen in the mens game ?think not!

  4. In regards to Rangers NWPL foreit, the team only has 13 registered players at the moment, and over half had made plans at Easter. The club of course was not happy about this however our hands were tied. We cannot control what individuals do and the facts were we didnt have enough players and apparently no plans could be put off!

We contacted FFT and advised Thursday morning. We make no excuses and is not something we are proud of, a game was rostered but our players chose to do other things. As you say they pay to play and decided this weekend they couldnt be available.

We certainly will be advising our womens players in early January next year that there will be Easter games and they need to plan around it!

  5. Thanks Mark.
There is no doubt that lack of press is killing the game. Has every club got Ben Foote and Mark Bakers email addresses?. The clubs should be emailing both these press writers early with the changes so the paying public can be notified.
Sentinel is right though, it's not called Premier League for nothing.

  6. Thanks Mark,I know how you and your club views these kind of situations and for you to respond to my comments shows that you are not happy with the situation, and I for one appreciate your comments.
I think Coaches need to be more responsible for their teams,After coaching for the last 2 seasons,we had 4 games forfeited on us last year, which I believe cost us the premiership, goal scorers & votes for the medal,
yet I was criticised for trying to re-schedule games so at least they went ahead,
Clubs need to make their Coaches explain if there is a need to re schedule or cancel and make FFT announce it on their web site prior to the week end, simple I think.
Nigel I went out of my way during those 2 seasons to provide a column in the Advocate with previews scores and reviews also on the FFT Site, and i had to chase every coach to try and get the info the only club in the North that I never had to chase was Marks team, nobody else seemed to care, I admit up here on the Coast got better the second year, but most info was pretty basic.
It now appears that slowly but surely, that the womens game will drift backwards which is a shame, the womens game needs passionate Coaches not only for their own team but the game itself.
