Your Outstanding Momment of Season 2009 In All Levels of the Game

  1. I would give my vote to Troy Scott, alot of doubt at the start of the year (Myself included) of what he could acheive as a coach with no real experience going in to 2009 and few can deny, once he got into the swing of things, got those boys firing with the best of them. Snuck them into the finals, and did bloody well in the SWC.

  2. North beating the south at Aurora. Loved being involved getting to know guys from other clubs a bit better, good fun!

  3. Probably the home/away leg of the NWPL with City and Devonport slugging it out... devonport winning at city 3-2, and then the valley rd leg 4-0 after a lot of things had been said in the leadup. my spies tell me it was a thoroughly deserved win for City, and it made for a highly entertaining season...bring on more i say

i'll save the mens angle for the statewide cup and playoffs...pretty sure there's going to be some cracking games in there

  4. Shane Thurley coming out of retirement and playing for a very depleted Ulvy Reserves against Riverside Olympic, his knee wrapped in two rolls of tape and scoring a goal with his first (or second?) touch!! Then took himself off ten minutes later!

  5. Would have to agree, Troy Scott did a fantastic job! And at the start of the year he was not afraid to go out and approach players. Great job to me it would have to be between him and the rangers coach to win coach of the year, obviously the rangers coach, getting rangers their first title should win it no questions asked

  6. Troy scott did a magnificent job. I said all year riverside impressed me and were clearly the most improved team in the league. Even early when they lost a few games they attempted to play soccer!

I'll reserve my highlight of the year for 3 or 4 weeks time! Hopefully then i can say its Devonport Strikers winning the State Championship!!!

  7. Sharks falling over and look in danger of collapsing next year - ha ha

Losing Roach, Lowe, George, Garry Hamilton and Jordaan Wright to Hobart next year, along with Nick Reid, Steve Wright and Casey Eaves retiring, Danny Eaves and Tyler travelling, Sam Cocks, Chris and Andy Considine heading to Burnie along with half the unders, they will nearly fold - ha ha

Burnie to win 2010 season, with the 3 Sharks and Marty Wells, Pete Van-Ek and Jezz De-Bomford all returning - yahooooo

  8. Ifu, why dont you add OFF to your name you toss?

If you had the intelligence to read earlier posts or actually knew anything you wouldn't have posted this load of crap?

George is doing all he can to stay up here, Jordy is working not going south, Casey says he is retiring every year, and won't, Danny has a good job, but you never know, and Tyler Duniam is an apprentice and is on our committee and never mentioned to me about going anywhere? As for my boys, Andrew now days is tied up with Drift Racing, surfing and scuba diving (doubt if we will see him on the park for a number of years, if at all), and Chis is working on the East coast (probably until the middle of next season), and I know for a fact that neither are playing with Burnie next season, and I also doubt very much if Sam is returning to Burnie, as I know he was interested in coaching the Sharks next year, so sorry to spoil your fun, tosser?

  9. My highlights of 2009 are numerous and as follows:- in order of occurrence not importance

Sharks winning pre-season cup, suggesting a top 3 finish to 2009?
Knights defeating Devonport 6 - 0 in round 1, unbelievable?
The great form of Riversides Sam Hughes and Ulverstones Brayden Mann, both terrific first year players and future super stars?
Rangers winning the NPL, great effort guys?

    Disappointments were as follows:-

Two youngsters from our club, Nick Treloar and Sam Phillips-Crole transferring to Burnie, really upset me?
Being unable to continue coaching and having to retire mid season?
The second half Shark form slide, due mainly to injuries and un-availabilities, but also poor individual form?
The tossers at Burnie and Somerset who are still continually linking me and my boys to Burnie, I am sick of it guys, give it a rest, I have retired and the boys are not playing???

  10. hahahaha.

lets hope that bommer comes back as i know he is trying to. and it would be good to see big marty back.

  11. calm down Kev..I can feel your blood pressure from here..I reckon somebody threw out a line and you have taken it with the hook and sinker.

P.S. I think you forgot to mention losing twice to Burnie in your disappointments.

Don't take things tooo seriously mate!!

  12. I was going to tell him that Hugo but you put it nicely.Life goes on without any of us Bad Boy and you are no exception.Clubs are up and down and you would never have thought that Launc.City would be where they are today after all those years of being at the top.Shark is a
strong species but they get caught in the net or the big hook especially if it goes to their head and come too close to the surfers.
Do I take it that you are following your friend Parky in retiring from active senior involvement?as they tell me Ray has played his last game and will not be coaching seniors next year.
Irfu ..you are a bigger shit stirrer than me...a bit of fun helps everybody.

  13. I can actually see all 4 Northern Teams winning next weekend.

Rangers will be tested this week, but hopefully back to full strength the next.

Devonport should rest a few this week against Burnie, as its a dead rubber realy, bounce back for the finals againsts Glenorchy, who dont travel well at all.

Knights are a constant supprise packet in big games, im sure if sessay gets back and the rest of the side is availible, there defensive game will Frustrate Zebras, and everyone knows when Zebs dont score early, they tend to strugle, and pow, little sessay pops up and pinches one!

River have had some pretty ipressive games, and I cant see why they cant go and shake South Hobart up, cmon the north, if itr happens, that will be my highlight for the year.

Here is one, after it looked outsidely possible that only one Launny based team would make the finals, we have three! well done to the Launceston based clubs!

    ReplyDelete
  14. will give you that one capt...North West clubs have dominated top 4 over the past few years but you are right launy clubs have done it.....I reckon Funky and Toddles made a bit of difference

    ReplyDelete
  15. Blood pressure fine Hugo, better than the bl##dy leg, but thanks for thinking of it though, you know I can't resist a bite?
    :)

Even at the Sharks they haven't stopped with spreading this crap? Since i left coaching mid season too many from both my clubs have continued rumors that i left to coach there next year? I think that it comes from a couple of dubious youngsters, but never stops, anyway it may happen one day, but can't see it in the near future, just needed to set the record straight?

How is Eli and gang all going down south, and when do you guys plan to return to the NW to live, or have the bright lights of the "big smoke" got ya staying south? :)

Rangers had a good mix of NW players this year Hugo, Funky Todd and Sam Luck, so maybe we could claim half a title to the NW??? :)

As for you Logan, your not a shit stirrer mate, more of a strange guy I think???

    ReplyDelete
  16. glad to see you've calmed down Kev..Eli's doing well down here, despite what some say, the T.I.S.program is really good in my opinion. Eli is thriving but who knows what's in the future...watch this space...I'm enjoying living down here, I miss teh coast and will definitely return but when?..no idea!
Will be at KGV on Sat to cheer the Rangers to victory...I'm still a Northerner for sure!!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Bad Boy,
I thought you were back at work but looks like I was wrong.Hope you are better soon as having having had a bit of that myself I know how frustrating it can be.As for you getting eastwards may be a good idea but not an easy decision.Anyway best things first I hope you get well soon and as for me I enjoy a bit of fun on this jigger.
ALL THE BEST FOR ALL NORTHERN TEAMS THIS AND NEXT WEEKEND.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Bad Boy does raise an interesting pont, with both him and Ray retired it will mean a couple of new coaches for the 2 most distant clubs from FFT, will they care if they aren't senior qualified? Only got them selves to blame.

    Highlights..
Best-Rivers first goal last week, absolutely stunning 360 spin and drag over ball to beat a player then a 2 step left foot cracker into top corner from 30 metres, the ball was still going up! In 358 years of watching coastal soccer I don't think I have seen better.
    Runnersup...Knights 6-0 over Port unbeleivable.
...Sharks Ressies beating Rangers in Lonnie...

    ReplyDelete
  19. I think that should be 35, I may be bald but not that old!!

    ReplyDelete
  20. haha well im travelling am i, news to me but hey if your gonna shout some airfares Ifu Seekae why not.
As for the sharks my not have had best of years and no excuses but we'll get over it. Far as i no will keep Jordy, Danny and casey and i, im sure Sammy will be there next year and Toby Skene back from injury, would love to know which unders you think are leaving tho haha

As for highlight will Say Ulvestone's young side's improvement looks good for the future and Rangers premiership
lowlight would be not having a full squad to choose from all year and losing not once but twice to Burnie.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Well if nothing else Ifu has got this blog going? Glad to here all the boys are staying and playing next season TD, I am sure Ifu was just baiting me again, one day I won't respond???

Working half days Logan, for a couple of months then hopefully back into full days, but if this weather keeps up who knows???

By the way, I see Burnie has named a very young squad for the Devonport game (if it goes ahead with this damned rain), should be a good experience for a few?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Another highlight for me has been the continued improvement shown in the Womens League - individually and generally across the board. Some great, competitive and close contests throughout the year. A particular highlight was the Ulverstone women finishing a well deserved third on the ladder.
Should also acknowledge the retirement of Ray Parke whose efforts and contribution to the game over a long period of time should be recognised.

    ReplyDelete
  23. yeh well hopefully im correct but all were looking forward to it last time i spoke, maybe even a few old faces returning who knows

    ReplyDelete
  24. Outstanding moment of the season!!! Rangers getting beaten 2-0 yesterday! Will their cockiness settle down a bit now?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Not a chance Determained, it will only get better from here, just for you my friend, by the way, mind sharing your real name so we can have a qualified discussion on why we are so arrogant? are we not alowed to enjoy the only moment in our clubs history that has counted? or if you celebrate are you just straight out arrogant in your book? any way, I am keenly interested to hear your thoughts. If a club losing is your highlight, perhaps you need a new passion in life!

    ReplyDelete
  26. you're a tosser determined! plain and simple. LMBAS

  28. Alex that is fine, however you just cant go posting comments on here or any other site (as you have done once before) without justification. It we are arrogant justify it as it is very much a subjective comment. I for one dont believe we are arrogant our people enjoy there football and do get into at times (chanting etc at games) I think this may be where you get that pereceived arrogance as the lads (and girls) were singing a few songs at the club during the season when we played you guys.

To say that Alex Brownlie thinks we are arrogant is not adequate without some backup evidence even this season or in the past.

    Regards

    Mark-NRFC

  29. Nuce try kev but Sammy Luck may have been from Devonport originally but has been at Rangers since around 14 ;)

    ReplyDelete
  30. Sammy was in my NW teams, so I claimed him, also had Mark and Todd 1 year (won all U/13 state championships with those guys as you would expect)
    :)

As for "Determined", cocky and arrogant are different things mate. Cocky is showing confidence and arrogance is not acknowledging others abilities or performances???

Only comment I didnt like was that CA didnt like our beer, even after beating us??? Now that's strange, not arrogant
    :)

  33. Boys - shelve the egos! No one is that interested in your feuding - seems fairly irrelevant to the 'bigger picture' which in this instance according to the heading is 'Your Outstanding Moment of 2009 in all levels of the game".
Irrespective of blog topic I'm fairly sure your petty point scoring really doesn't belong anywhere on this site and certainly doesn't advance football in ANY way.

  40. Determined and Captain please keep to the topic of the post and keep the personal stuff out constructive critisim is fine but dont just have a go because you dont like what you see or say about a club / people this blog is all about the game and personal Egos

    ReplyDelete
  41. that's it governess...crack that admin whip!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Sorry That is meant to say keep your Ultra Egos out

    ReplyDelete
  43. im am pretty disappointed that you would remove my first comment admin, i thought it raised some pretty valid points bout the youth, that is not my fault other people abuse me after that. thats all ill say

    ReplyDelete
  44. Boys, gotta love ya passion, but Mitch is right, this blog should be used to advance our game, constructive critisism is all good and well but we all want it to be better.
Highlight..Rangers fight to the end to win the title, well done boys and girls, adds a new king to the throne...look out next year, they all like to beat the Champions!

    ReplyDelete
  45. One thing I would like to see on here is for everyone to state who they are si we know who is saying what. That way those who havent got the balls to put there name to a comment cant.

Too many people arent willing to place there name to there comments. I mean I used my title as everyone out there knows who I am and to be honest they also know who Captain Oz is hes had his mub all over the paper a lot (love him or hate him).

I have no drama with people stirring the pot, but let us know who you are.

    My 2 bobs worth!

    Governess your thoughts

    ReplyDelete
  46. Now back on topic, my other highlight of the year away from Rangers, would have to be the improvement of the Ulvie side, if they can keep the group together will see some big things out of them over the next year or two

    ReplyDelete
  47. Another highlight I would suggest is the eveness of the league with teams taking points off each other everywhere. Lonnie were a bit off the pace I guess, and City were very inexperienced but the rest of the comp was very even. Knights beat Devonport twice then lose twice to Ulvies. River gave us a touch up. Somerset were good early before losing personel late in the year and made the semi of the cup. Devonport and Rangers played to cracking games worthy of 1 v 2.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Would def agree, and the sheer fact that so many teams are taking points off each other this year, shows the league is slowly improving.. Even though we only finished with 8 points, the highlight for us would be taking points off Somerset. I think the league has gone from a two horse race in the past 10 or so years, to a open competition. I remember a few years back the league was so different, City went through a season un defeated and still lost the title. I'm so glad that has changed now, and most clubs can beat another club on their day.

    ReplyDelete
  49. i agree with comment re: the users of this forum using there names on here. I've copped and given out the odd sledge in my time, but it can be handled when u know who its coming from. Nothing worse than being sledged by someone who wont disclose who they are. Good to see the guys above not hiding behind usernames!

pity some "other" forums wouldn't do the same!

    ReplyDelete
  50. How do i change mine??? for people who dont know i am Alex Brownlie

    ReplyDelete
  51. You don't have to change it Alex as we now all know who you are. However anonymous is still better to my thinking as long as you are reasonable and without bad language. If we had to use our names some of the members may not have been here.
May I also say that the highlight of mine as a Burnie supporter was beating the Sharks twice.
Having only 15 points and 6 of them from the Sharks sounds ok to me although we would have been better with 25 point even with nothing from them. However we could always look to next year and with the amount of players lost from last season the boys have done well.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Highlights - 1) Rangers title and the Devonport guard of honour after the game - very classy gesture 2)Olympic and Ulverstone - young teams with quality players, well coached, playing the right way
Lowlights - 1) Launceston United's current plight - how do you end up with a senior side that is both older, and weaker than your reserves?
2)Launceston City's "route one" tactics. Plenty of young, enthusiastic and talented players instructed to pump it long all day, despite not threatening and having no possession.

The last 2 points are not criticisms, but points for discussion

    ReplyDelete
  53. Sadly i have to agree with you adam.. very true and fair points... The one thing i will say... I think next year the young lads at launceston City will hopefully be instructed to start playing the ball around a bit more like our reserves did this year, because i think they do have the talent if given the oppertunity to show it

    ReplyDelete
  54. Strange you say that Determined, last year Sav had em knocking the ball around well and gave them a license to take players on, and they looked the goods, i thought that they may have finished top 4 this year, so you guys would be extremely dissapointed I guess?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Yer bad boy, extremely, and not making any excuses, but we did get hit with some serious injuries this year, and that kinda knocked the wind out of us. But hudson cup the boys were playing the ball around quite nicely too, and we had some great results, drew with south hobart, beat prospect and riverside, i believe, so yes really disappointed. But all we can look towards is next year now. And hopefully next year, we can be one of theose teams that can make the top four and take points off the two bench mark teams, Devonport and Rangers
