  4. I will go a bit different than you guys, even though last weeks loss wasn't what we want to see?

Prospect Knights 1 - 0 Keep Crosswell (skilfull) Walsh (quick) and Walsh (left foot, good engines) quiet and is possible guys?
Riverside 1 - 0 Tighten the defense, work even harder in midfield and get that late goal from midfield?
Rangers 2 - 0 You know how they play, watch the bl##dy offside and destroy them (play at faster pace)?
Devonport 3 - 1 They start quick, but we managed to get a few against them, have some ordinary defenders, so attack with pace and skill, easy?

  5. Now kev I think everyone here would be happy if those predictions come true!! Agreed :)

  6. so do you think the clubs will take this comp seriously or is it just an annoyance at the end of the season?

Also has anyone spotted the Finals Series TV commercial that was shot last week on air yet?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Im yet to be convinced this comp will be taken seriously. The Northern League is the most important trophy of the season, its what we play all year for! For me the season goes too long now and im not sure if I played in the 4th placed team if i'd be real enthusiastic about this comp. I still like the top side from each region playing off in 1 game!

Just my opinion though and im sure others will differ.

im sure Rangers and Devonport players for example would probably say they are keen as ever to be state champions!

  8. my tips anyway:

Zebras to beat knights 3-2 (might even get to extra time here).

    South to beat riverside 4-0

Rangers to turn the tables on clarence. 1-0 winners

    Strikers by a couple, 3-1.

  9. I think the concept is a great idea, especailly for those teams that never really have a full on shot at winning the title, the likes of Riverside, on their day could upset most teams. I hope this paves the way for the reintroduction of a state in the next few years.

I would agree with u alan if Rangers went through and won the season and then werent crowned champions which is what they were talking of doing at the start of the year, but i think if done right, this could work wonders, and they would see how good state league would be again.

  10. Definetly Alex, If this can help bring a state league back then it cant hurt. I guess my opinion is based on what i'd feel as a player, and that is that the season is long enough without an added series.

would be interested to hear from players in sides that were from sides ranked 3 - 6 in the league towards the end of the season on how much this series was talked about and how much of a motivating factor it was?

  11. Obviously the NPL is the most important title we play for, the one your invlved in for 16 weeks of the year.

I guess the idea of having some "meaningful" final series is to keep the sides in the possies say 3rd to 7th for example interested,

I think this year that worked! Riverside, Somerset, Ulvie all chasing 4th along and I know for a fact the Ulive boys would ahve loved to be playing this week.

Rangers keen for state championship but will ahve to win without Funky and Connors injured and Bremner unavailable because of University committments. Toddy will return

  12. some more tips:
    Zebras too strong 3-1
    Riverside to upset South 2-1
    Rangers to bounce back 2-0
    Devonport too strong 3-1
Final series a good idea, lets hope the North can show our talent and get to a North v North Final!? Dev - Rangers?

  14. Birch Avenue still a goer bit of a bog, but council wont shut it

    ReplyDelete
  15. I feel a bit for you guys actually mark, your right it is a bog and its going to be worse after the first game

    ReplyDelete
  16. Gee Pres, you have some quality missing, tell Funky to have a go, you guys need to win, this is extremely important and worth a fair bit of dosh (if they double prize money as promised at Forestry presentation)? Can't Bremner play against his old club, surely he could change exams or whatever :)I am positive he would love to take em down in this, especially after last weeks poor effort??? Talk to em mate, show them they are really needed, work something out, that's why they pay you the big bucks???

  17. hahahahah.

just seen the new ad for the final series.
hahaha love the pose ambrose/mckenna.real serious.

but it wasn't real bad though.good for the game.cant complain about lack of exposure.

    still it was funny.

  18. Looks like a real chance of four southern teams in the semis

    ReplyDelete
  19. Bad Boy,

Bremner had to choose one of the weekends, Cup or Quater final of SW Champ, no getting out of it when a full year of uni is on the line

Funky just have to sit a week out I think, thought he might get up but guess not!

Its not these not wanting to be out there, they do and competiton is thick for their places, just sometimes in amature sport, stuff comes up.

Al Eadie, to shed some light from out perspective as to whether the boys want to win it, we have still had 25 plus at training this week in crap weather, hopeing to get a spot in a squad of 15, so there is plenty of support for it at the NTCA. But im interested to hear what the other clubs think.

Still think Rangers can get up.
Zebs should do Knights with the outs Huddo has.
River could supprise South, but im tipping South by 1, would like to see Troy get up though with the river boys
Dev will win through over Glenorchy. Knights to have a few beers on the way down!!

  20. Tips for this week:

Zebra 3 Prospect 0 - Too many regulars out for Prospect
South 4 Riverside 1 - South to show why they finished on top
Rangers 1 Clarence 0 - Home ground advantage will help Rangers in a tight contest
Devonport 3 Glenorchy 0 - Devonport tough to beat at home and will fancy their chances in this competition

    ReplyDelete
  21. Birch Avenue..home ground...give us a break..
    Give us a break Gremlin.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Devonport V's Glenorchy Knights is being played at Ulverstone. Valley Road is drenched!!! Also heard Birch Avenue game is postponed.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I hate FFT, what a bunch of girls!!! (no offence to any girls out there) correct chris, birch shut! oh and logan, any northern ground is a home ground for us against the south - why? because we wont be having southern referees!!!

    ReplyDelete
  24. does anyone have any results for today? presuming that is any were played.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Tilford Zebras 4-2 Prospect Knights
    South Hobart 2-0 Riverside Olympic
    Devonport City 3-4 Glenorchy Knights
Northern Rangers v Clarence United (postponed; to be played next Saturday)

And Ulverstone beat Devonport 4-3 in U18 Cup Final!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. well best of luck to rangers or this could be a rather sad finals series for us northerners

    ReplyDelete
  27. Yep it's up to the Rangers boys now. Come on lads!

    ReplyDelete
  28. devonport i would have thought would have taken the game from the knights ,other than that no surprises.prospect and riverside missing some of their more valuable players.maybe rangers will get funky and conners back from injury and bremmners availabity with studdies may change !?

    ReplyDelete
  29. It's a shame that missing players from the Northern sides may have had a bearing on the results, as games like these set peoples opinions on how they compare both leagues.

    ReplyDelete
  30. bad boy.... im sure that 'set' know about injuries this year from what ive read on here... if i thought i could play (same with conners) we would be dam well playing, i can promise you that!!!! and as far as bremner... if you have any experience with UNI...you just can get out of some stuff unfortunately! your right though, was very keen to play them again, trained wed and fri night regardless!!!

No surprises for me with the results though... kenny, why did you play V emus last week mate???

    c'mon the rangers...

    ReplyDelete
  31. Prospect Knights and Riverside both looked capable of upsetting their southern opponents during their games today - although their opposition had more chances in each game - kgv bit slippery in patches but otherwise in excellent condition.

    3 down one to go!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Good thing now Funky, all 3 of you guys should be able to play next week and keep the North alive?

Not really having a crack at ya, just hoping that you guys can get up and get that prize money? By the sounds of it the two sides that traveled south were not at full strength which is disappointing, but yes injuries have been really bad in our comp all year, anyway, go get em Rangers, just to shut Amazed and co up, show em what you can really do when you are all switched on Gers, give em plenty to talk about :)

  35. Is anyone going to give a rundown of the devonport v glen knights match?

Wlater's reports plus the videos give an idea of the othe two games - but a 7 goal thriller and not a word anywhere?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Agreed with you there Amazed, would be good to know who scored and when etc???

    ReplyDelete
  37. Bad boy, yes hopefully we can get back to full strength, the boys trained really well Mon and cant wait to hit the track wed, just hope the weather doesn't ruin a solid week of training.

I know you weren't having a dig mate, i was just explaining! no way are we taking this lightly, we got more to play for than ever . . . especially our ranger (cocky) pride!!!! haha

    ReplyDelete
  38. The Northern pride rests on your shoulders Funky, tell the rest of the Gers, defeat is not an option, WIN AT ALL COSTS, the higher the score the better :)

I for one would be extremely disappointed if you failed to win the whole thing let alone this game, and bring home that big first prize purse.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Don't worry Kev, None of us will take this lightly! People fighting for places even this late in the year, excellent numbers at training - I for one, cannot wait until saturday!!! Let's go you Rangers!!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Rangers lost in the penalty shoot out.
