  1. my tips this week: somerset 1-4 devonport... .. i expect a thumping-somerset struggling with injuries and dev need to win to go on top of the table

Burnie 1-1 Knights- Burnie starting to pick up their game and knights were pretty ordinary in front of goal last week..

Ulverstone 2-1 Riverside- both teams striving for top four and in reasonable form.. going with the reds because the midfield was awesome against knights and will need to be just as good this week against river's speedy midfield

Launceston city 2-0 Launie United.. united are improving but should see a comfortable city win

  2. Sharks to play a 1 - 1 draw with Devonport, injuries or no injuries, a point is a must?

Knights to bounce back 1 - 0 against a tough Burnie, otherwise their finals aspirations may be over for 2009?

Riverside's midfield to cause Ulverstone all sorts of problems and both teams need the win to close in for a top 4 spot, River 2 - 0 in a very fast and physical close encounter?

City 6 - 1 against Launceston (Duffy to score again) :)

  3. Somerset are always hard, injuries or not! 1-1

Knights will bounce after losing to ulvie, 2-1

River a good team, showed the rangers a thing or two...ulvie also good. should be a cracking game! 2-2

    City 4-1

    Rangers - Bye

  4. s'set v port a close game, port by a goal!

knights missed a heap of chances first half last week, could have had the game done and dusted by half time. they should be too strong for burnie although never underestimate burnie at home!

Riverside getting better and better, ulverstone although better than previous years and very young still dont impress me with there style of soccer. Riverside to slick in the middle. riverside 3-1

United used to get themselves up for games against city. If they can soak up some pressure early and frustrate city then they might just be able to share the points. on the other hand if city score early then they'll win it comfortably. Hate to see a side not win a game all season so hoping united can pull one out of the bag!

  5. looked like a couple of nice long range goals by ulverstone on the weekend although looked like Innis was unsighted on the last one. Is he back in the seniors again?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Reds to continue good form and pressure top four, a win 3-1
Knights to beat the new non aggressive Burnie 1-0
City 2-0 over Lonnie, sorry boys but you may have to wait to next year.
Devonport should beat Somerset, they have more to play for especially with Somerset playing SWC the following week. 3-1

  7. EASY TIPS THIS WEEK :
Laun City 4 - Laun Utd 0 (City to take Utds goal tally to 70 agianst ).

Somerset 0 - Devonport 4 (If sharks cant beat Laun City at home look what devonport will do to them, and port nice and fresh from a 1/2 of game last week ).

    Match of the rd
Ulverstone 3 - Riverside 1 (Ulvie love there bobbly pitch and great changerooms (david) way to strong at home with the "MANN" in form.

Burnie 1 - Knights 3 (Knights 2 take burnie loss tally to 8 out of 12 games for the year)

Rangers well needed bye to re-group for the SWC next week .

  8. Gremlin,

That was Gazza's (innis) first senior game for the year, think beardo was suspended from the statewide cup game with rangers. He looked to have a pretty good game from what i sore but then im biased too. i still think he's the best shot stopper in the league.

Knights quite lucky to have 2 of the best 3 keepers in the league, i'd think beardo would go straght back in this week, he's had a great year. (how he's not in the northern squad is beyond me!!) From gazza's own omission he's lacked motivation this year and has trained very little. I dont think he did any of preseason. I think he's more than happy to have a year in the 2s. Bloody good 2s keeper!!!

  9. Received an email from FFT regarding rescheduled games, no mention of the Port v Burnie game! Has anyone from the 2 clubs heard what is going to happen?

    ReplyDelete
  10. going off the youtube highlights innis did make some really goods saves (as did the ulverstone keeper). Do you know if we can expect more knights games on youtube like the rnagers are doing some weeks? It is good to see what's happening around the league.

  11. Expecting a hard and fast game at Shark Park with the Sharks getting up 4-3, usually a lot of goals between these two.
Think River are coming on strong late in the season, pity they didn't start that way, River should triumph 2-0.
City too good for Lonnie but it will be close allday 2-1.
Knights and Burnie, should be a hard match, pity the referee who gets this one, lots of cards, at least 2 reds I reckon.
Opening of the clubrooms may help Burnie's cause, a tough 2-1 win to the Emus.
Rangers are gone, I said at the start of the season they haven't got the spirit needed to go all the way, they have run out of puff!

  12. Nigel - Grow some hair!

    Other than that
    City to beat Launny
    Burnie wont beat Knights
Ulvie a good side and play their ground well and should get over River
Hope Somerset can get over Dev, not because of Nigel either!

  13. Gremlin!

Where do I go to to find Knights Vs Ulvie Game?

    ReplyDelete
  14. found it!

    well done who ever responsble!

  15. Easy there Captain Aust, personal attacks not warranted mate, always more than meets the eye? As for Nigel's call, I think he is wrong, I am sure that you guys have bounced back, big winners last week and rest this week can only help? The big clash later on in the year will decide the 2009 Northern premiers? PS- Chris Beardwood posted the Knights - Ulvie game.

As for Todd, where did you copy that latest remark from, careful there?
    :)

  16. haha.i like that. i did ask this time.

  17. Gremlin,

The Knights/Ulverstone game was only filmed because as Alan pointed out, I was suspended and it gave me a chance to video the senior guys running around.

There has been a fairly good response to it so I'd like to get someone from our club to do our game against Burnie this weekend but we'll have to wait and see.

  18. Captain Australia - yeah mate no need for name calling. A bit immature or your behalf.

  19. Results from Shark Park - all Port
Unders 2-1, Ressies 4-0 and Seniors ditto 4-0.
Port definitely the better team all day.

Good to see the Captain and few others make the long trip to Shark Park today, and I say again that they will be worried after watching the clinical and spirited display by Devonport. Looks like Port will be top but with the Sharks still to play Knights and Olympic they may miss out on the finals if they continue in the same vein as today.

Good on you Cap, you can only call a bald man baldy! As you saw today I pulled it all out watching the Sharks this year.
Reckon my drinks shout is safe for anpther year!

  20. Thank you brother for the use of your comp.Great game at Montello today.result 2-2.
a very even game and in good spirit.Burnie leading 1-0 at half time thanks to some good saves fron Knights keeper.Second half game was again even but Knights used their chances to go 2-1 up and seemed ready for a win after a penalty was awarded against Burnie but the keeper had an excellent save and shortly after burnie realised that the knights had blue socks on and equalised.Burnie missed Ashley Smith and the Knights their very fast forward.
Sorry Mr Nigel no red cards were required and only one yellow to a knights player.credit to both teams for a very good game.obviously too many forecasters have to go back to school.
So heading back shortly reasonably happy.

  21. Read your comments Logan re, am I a Man Utd fan.Not sure if you are aware but there is a line running east to west across this country and to the north of it you find a loyal following for the red devils but below that line where I reside the alligence to Fergusons mob is not very great. A casual ticket to premier matches is too expensive and when the season starts I will be supporting my local team as usual.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Sorry people Knights won it 3-2.hard joke but at least had some fun.no more drinks.
    Hi John,
i understand that as I have a neighbour who is exactly like you and we always have some fun.You do have a great club but we just made it this last season. Thanks for understanding.

    ReplyDelete
  23. well done logan, another well informed comment. at least one thing you got right is that is was a (good, maybe not) gr8 game. but seriously...tough to miss the hat trick from knights striker...even tho as correctly pointed out he did miss the spot kick to make it 4. good battle for the title and top four. should be a tough finals series...good on Lonny Utd for gettn a point...did ya boi duffy score Bad Boy?

  24. Thanks twang for reminding me that I am human after all and make mistakes[even if they are wilful].I was a great game to watch and i for one enjoyed it even if the result was not to my liking and you would have to agree that a draw wouls have been a fairer representation of the game but it does not always work that way.You have a good team and all the best for the rest of the season.
On the other hand I am happy to see United get a point which shows the improvement I had mentioned previously. At least got a point for this week.
Keep up the discussions and a bit of humour will not do any harm.I see bad boy must still be in bed.

  25. Na Logan, I am up, just waiting to see all the correct results, only two posted last night and both were wrong (from what I had been told) not nice guys, if your not sure on the scores then dont print them, as many check this site out for results? Hopefully Twang is right and Launnie did get a point (would expect Duffy to score) :) Did City play the "old" or "young" team?

    ReplyDelete
  26. they dont have many options anymore, they have to play what theyve got.some things seem to be going well for them, notable the use of their upgraded clubroom facilities, but then you see a not aged club stalwart like andrew clarke being so distanced, that mid season he makes a move to launceston.twang can you post the scorers from yesterdays games please,my concern is that you may have been the one who failed to convert a penalty.can you also post ressies scorers.cheers all.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Hi twang,
The forward I was referring to was not playing. He seemed to be of African descent.Saw him when Burnie played you at Prospect and his speed was amazing.Do not know his name.
Bad boy I had been told by my brother that knights had scored a goal when I was having a drink in the new clubrooms which are great, although I think that they are in the wrong spot. However it is good to see the improvement on the old ones although too late for me to have a shower in there anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  28. i'll try to answer all Q's here.

I think Brad Reeves scored for Lonny Utd, not Duffy unfortunately Bad Boy.

Logan the African player you refer to is Matty Sessay, VERY fast and talented but has gone AWOL in the last month or so and has barely played for Knights this season. Definitely hurts Knights' chances of competing with the top teams.

Beckham, yes Twang was the player that failed from the spot...fair to say i'll be passing the responsibility to someone else from now on.
    Scorers y'day for Knights
Res: blake murphy 3 (all 1st half)
    balym (pen)
    not sure about others
    Score 7-0
    Snrs:
    Harris 3

Gr8 clubrooms, ground in pretty good nik too!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Glad you have fun with your neighbour in launceston logan.
Will send you a run down on our leagues and club involvement Mr very good Bad Boy in return for the data you kindly put on the web page for me. Cannot make many other meaningful contributions other than comment on what I can read from others.

  31. Stains, your alias probably suits your actual character, just a stain in societies under pants mate!

Nigel - you are very correct, Dev were pretty darn good on saturday, and Rangers will have a massive job to bring home the bacon, however, all we need to do is win 3 games! and we CAN beat port, not much chance of them dropping a point from now to then though, so it will have to be a win, with our next test a pretty handy Ulverstone before we can even worry about crossing that last bridge! Still I remain quietly confident! as to my comment, I was unaware of conditions so I retract that remark, appologise and replace it with "give yourself an upper cut!" If we get over the line, I will drive to somerset to enjoy the shout ok? thanks for saying G'day! Sharks were certainly not playing with the same passion that they did at NTCA. very flat indeed! oh well!

North had a practice game on the number two ground at Birch v Rangers Reserves / Unders side and had a 4 all draw, then lost 5-0 on penalties (was pretty funny) pretty tough game in such a tight space for them to excel, but on the big ground at York park, they will go pretty well, and would have smashed us! but we have boasting rights for the moment!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Beckam, no Lo and a few others, but no excuse, Devonport had a couple of big guns out as well but they wanted it more from my sources, lets just hope that the sharks can gain some valuable points from here in otherwise finals are over?

Anyone know the Ulverstone Riverside result?

    ReplyDelete
  33. How about two all - at Ulverstone. That Mann again - with the two Ulvy goals!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Captain Aus, i don't know how you, of all blokes, can call someone a stain! Any news on the North/South game? Do the North have enough to even make a team? Final team selection been done?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Someone had better get a scout from the Northern Island to take a look at him Mitch, great little lefty, could go places if he really wants too?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yeah Cons Jezza seems pretty focussed on going on to bigger and better things. He's passionate for Ulvy and loves the game generally (unfortunately a Man U follower - so not all good!).
It's been great to watch his efforts on the pitch - he's taken a bit of stick from the opposition but he picks himself up and gets on with it. His goal against Devonport was a cracker!
Would be great to see him go on to pursue his dreams.
When you get to this stage with your best years well and truly behind you it's been great to see such a great bunch of young blokes on the way up.

    ReplyDelete
  37. goegraphy not my strong suit.however envious but very happy to see a player of his qualities coming through david.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Shano, wah wah, front with your real name and i'll come round and show you how its done cobs!

    ReplyDelete
  39. And north had 15 at practice game today, so I guess there wont be a problem fielding a side.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Nothing wrong with being a MU fan Mitch, I had him and Joel for a year, maybe that's where he found MU :) Seriously though, if someone at your club has contacts with a Premier League club in Victoria or NSW I would suggest that you contact them to see him action (you may lose him, but we shouldn't hold the good ones back)?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Agree wholeheartedly about young blokes moving onward and upward - no fear of holding them back from me mate. CANNOT agree with the Man U supporting - You'll Never Walk Alone for me! Think Brayden and Stoney have taken steps to look beyond the island.

  42. Northern squad finalised yesterday:

Chris Mckenna and Mark Ambrose were in original squad but both had to withdraw with injuries.

Matthews Seesay has been a no show the last few weeks similar to Twangs comments actually.

Tom Roach, Casey Eaves and John Lo were all invited but werent available. As was Paul Bremner.

However the 16 picked have all put their hand up and should do ok.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Captain australia - feel free to come and check my pants any time you like, might even leave u a suprise! Still feel like you've got to justify your insults with another? Just sticking up for a mate. Enough said I would of thought.

  44. Top battle in last few week between Knights, Somerset, Ulvie and River for last couple of places in top 4. Expect Knights and Somerset to stay in top 4 some good games to come with Knights, River and Somerset all playing each other. Ulvie would have to win both their games and hope results go their way, make it or not they have been the season big improvers
