  1. Burnie plays a team in blue and white again, so I guess the players will be "up" again :)Burnie 4 - 1. (a small tip for Launceston, wear an away strip, it may work)?

A depleted Sharks squad will take on City at Shark Park, not sure if City will send a youthful team or an experienced one, so makes it a hard game to prepare for? Sharks 2 - 1 in a close one (keep up the good work guys, no matter who plays, starting to gel as a team), but lets give sports trainer Matt Noble an easy week for a change, as his book is getting full:)

Riverside gets to play Rangers on the rebound, but after last weeks, physical game on a heavy pitch coupled with injuries etc, i cant see the Gers controlling the match for lengthy periods, and I rate Rivers midfield as one of the best, but I will tip a late winner for the Gers for a 1 - 0 victory??? (bloody close game)

Devonport now has a chance at the title, but the young Reds are improving each week, with "lefty" Mann deadly in front of goal, it wont be a walk in the park for the strikers, but with Kenny and co so strong going forward, i expect a 4 - 1 Devonport victory.

  2. haven't seen burnie or launy this season so hard to say. You'd think burnie playing at their best would be comfortable winners though based on past results.

Sharks to win easy! hitting top form now and would expect a youthful city team for the longest drive of the season. Sharks 5-1

Said all year Riverside aren't the worst! good young developing side and troy seems to have em playing a nice brand of footy! im gonna go with a 1-1 draw.

Haven't seen ulverstone either but reports are they are on the rise. Might not have the experience to match it with the strikers for 90mins. Lots of goals, 5-2 in an exciting game!

  3. have to agree with you al, burnie far too strong for LU. Lonny just can't win...gunna tip them to get pants'd again this season.

Sharks a good side...looked to be carrying a couple of players at NTCA (not sure why rangers didn't didn't try to expose them) and still got the win. They'll beat City by 4 or more.

Agree that Troggy has River up and running - and Robbie Hughes will be cherry ripe to run thru some Gers. River 2-1 (might even get there for a look)

Stikers too good, should be a goal-fest tho with Ulvy quality side

Only thing about rescheduling the postponed matches on s'wide semi day is (and i haven't done the research) are sides Unders teams in Northern Knockout cup??? Coz if so we can't forget about them! They have to make up games too - but i suppose they could make their matches up at the end of the season if that were the case (it might be more like a final for Knights VS River U18's match)

  4. Good point about the Unders, could get those games caught up in the state wide final series as curtain raisers, get a few more people through the gates too!

Burnie to get over Launceston easy, cant see them getting apoint all year if they dont get one this week!

Wont matter what side City bring to Cardigan st, they will get beat by the sharks.

Will say Riverside have done an excetional job considering what they had to begin with, cudos to Troy, going to be a tough game, and always is at Windsor park. Hardest place to play in the state for me! esspecially is the winds get up! Rangers by one!

Kim Rigby only needs to get his lads to stick to their game plan and defend like they never have before and they could get over Dev, I know the insperation will be there! I have never witnessed a club that wants to beat another like Ulvie's desire to beat the strikers! Dev a week or two off so will be fresh, but may be alittle rusty! Still think Dev will win

  5. EASY TIPS THIS WEEK:
burnie 2 - laun utd 1 (last vs 3rd last)
boring game you would think at windy montello

somerset 3 - laun city 1(s'set is the in form team, but city will have fresh young legs with the week off).

devonport 4 - ulvertone 0 (devonport to many guns for ulvie's young side).

rangers 3 - riverside 1 (will be interesting to see if rangers can bounce back from there 1st loss of the yr or drop another 3 pts away at windsor park)

  6. red bull, haven't seen lonny play this yr but they seem to have a defence as leaky as a boat made of chicken wire

    -and-

i haven't played in, or seen a game involving Burnie that didn't have at least a bit of fire in it (and a lot of fight).

Those 2 things taken into account would make for a game worth watching...for Emu fans anyway! Might not be the highest quality match tho...

  7. twang , i have only seen burnie once this yr and they lost 4-0 or 4-1 they just kick it long. yes they have a bit of fight in em but the game has changed now and they havent.
They were playing the same style 10 yrs ago , they haven't improved one bit (cant remember if they won anything in the last 10 yrs maybe a under 17-18 champ once maybe)think the club needs and change like launceston utd is trying to do at least.

  8. mmm, i tend to agree...point taken

  9. burnie 6 - laun utd 2
    somerset 1 - laun city 1 (didnt see that 1 comming )
    devonport 3 - ulverstone 1
riverside 3 - rangers 1 (wow some crazy results there)

  10. Great results this weekend for the competition. Heavy grounds are starting to affect things I reckon. Ulvy were one up today against port with port having chances of their own. Dev ran over the tiring Ulvy in the 2nd half. Ulvy cops the team coming off the bye each week, this time of year I don't see that as being very fair. Anyway, well done Dev.

  11. Smithy - Sharks have had the same draw in recent years as well, as long as it is shared each year it may look fair, but is pathetic???

Maybe FFT could use a "functional" roster program or at least ensure that it would even out (each team cop the "bye syndrome"), crikeys, we might even get uniform home and away rosters one day, like it should (didnt I send them that years ago)??? They only have to move Ulvie around early (ground unavailable)and Gers slot into the opposite weeks to the "other code", but unfortunately they say its too bloody hard to do it right???

Pity that the Sharks dropped points this week, but I expected a tight one, even though our "reserve" team took full points last week against the Gers, then couldn't back up.

The EIGHT registered Sharks players missing last week from the beginning of the year shows how poor the competition really is becoming, if an undefeated team can be beaten, the list is as follows.

    Keeper - Adam Woodhouse
Defence - Danny Eaves, Jordan Wright
Midfield - Nick Reed, Jonno Lo, Chris Considine.
Forwards - Sam Phillips Crole, Andrew Considine
Then to add to the poor Gers performance last week, throw in players injured during the game, Steve Wright and Toby Skene??? It was an amazing win by the Sharks, probably the clubs best, and one could only expect after that result that the Gers would struggle this week (Riverside has the fastest midfield in the league)???

I really hope that the Gers bubble hasn't burst, as they did look the goods early on, and I hoped that they finally achieved something.

Devonport would be nearly celebrating another title now, consistency pays off???

  12. PS - From what I was told of yesterdays game, the City keeper made around 20 great saves, and if he doesn't get the 3 votes in from the refs, then maybe FFT should take that responsibility from them???

  13. Strange game at D'port on saturday. Port could have won it inside the first 15 mins. But to Ulv's credit they hung in there and scored a good goal against the run of play. The rest of the first half was ordinary to watch with the wind making it difficult to play entertaining soccer.

Appreciate smithy's comments about the bye, but i didn't see anything to suggest that the end result was due to fitness, or fatigue on ulverstones part. Devonport simply lifted about 5 gears and tore the game to shreds with a great second half. It actually could have ended up a lot more than 3-1.

Saying that ulvy are a much improved side from the one I last played against and will no doubt continue to improve. They along with riverside seem to be the big improvers this year. And its great to see young sides attempting to play soccer!

have to congratulate riverside, although there have been a few murmours about some interesting decisions by officials, all riverside can do is win, and ive said all year they are better than they are given credit for. I think most people have started to agree!! They'll take more points of top 4 sides before the year is done!!

im sure rangers will bounce back, title is still there to be taken for whichever side wants it the most.

sounds like sommerset were under strength. still expected them to win!!!

  14. Went to the somerset/city game for a look and i don't know who your info is Bad Boy but somerset looked ordinary. they played the same formation all day and never really looked like winning.
Wind had some effect on match but really just an ordinary effort.
The veranda up there is excellent to watch the game on a nasty day though.

  15. Yes Chance, some were playing flat, others carrying injuries, but missed too many opportunities again (from my sources of cause :)). Hopefully they will get a couple back and those carrying injuries either rest or put in big efforts, as Launceston will be no easy beats?
