  3. no mowing lawns this weekend. big game at prospect park, hopefully knights by a couple 3-1. burnie to do a few better over a deflated city 4-0.would have thought aurora would be able to handle two games prior to the feature game sadly many will drift away after melb &adelaide and not stay on to support the ladies .good luck to the northern teams,at least for the mens game the southerns will have to leave home early hard work for them (i hope).

  4. Bad Boy a run down on the structure of the uk game. will waste little time with premier and league teams. Next to them is the nationwide Blue square league still professionals. Ex league sides, promoted teams from regional leagues and those hopeful of making progress.
Next regional leagues mostly part timers.
Then senior county leagues, junior county leagues and others like district leagues. Clubs at senior county level have senior, reserve a grade and sometimes veterens teams. Most have two playing venues to accomodate these teams. Each team has to supply its own linesman for each match. Recruitment comes mainly from seperate junior club who have sides from ages 8 to 16.
That my aussie friends for what it is worth could well be my swansong. Oh lord apologies I for got to mention the cricket

  5. G'day Beckham
I'm looking forward to the Melbourne Victory Adelaide United curtain raiser for the main game! Can't wait to see my daughter have a run on Aurora for the Northern Women. Very proud dad!

  6. good onya mate, and why not.I personally have a very well grounded parochialism. my only problem is it seems too many of our northern reps,of the male gender, dont regard this game as Arthur Beetson did for his game.seems chelsea plays for the blues.

  7. May-be shouldnt say things like that

  8. John, sounds as if match officials is a problem over there as well? We desperately need ex players to put their hands up and look after these matches, always need more referees, gee some of the guys running around now could nearly be on a pension?

As for the cricket, we should have won the first test, were thrashed in the second, but the "fat Lady" aint singing yet mate, still in their and two big gun bowlers to return soon
    :)

  9. tassie family who are you kidding??????
yes they might be great change rooms but as for the club rooms , it might be ok if you want to look at an empty small ground that dosen't get played on, the viewing of the main ground is shocking , you can only see goals at 1 end, your clubrooms is in the wrong spot as has been said on here before !!!

  10. Seems the Burnie crew have deserted the blog, maybe i can shed some light on the new rooms at Burnie.
The building was funded from a 2007 Liberal Fed Gov grant to the council for a new swimming pool but after the change of Gov 2007 the council were instructed to spend the grant on sporting facilities. They decided to build this new facility which gives them a multi purpose conference facility with the add on benefit of changerooms etc.
The kicker is twofold, firstly i beleive the residents protested the building being built on the side of the ground due to late night noise etc from functions. secondly it was designed and built to be run by Burnie Sports and Events. No real club involvement hence very little allowance for club use.
I predict that the siting is deliberate as I reckon the council are going to relocate both grounds to the west where you will see games from the building and this will also allow the council to put in a new street and subdivide a heap of blocks off the eastern end with the great views, therefore raise a heap of dosh for the new pool.

  11. Red Bull I am sure your name does not represent your colour.you must be one of Burnie's western neighbours that still suffers from inferiority complex. The view of the ground may not be as desired but the clubrooms are great.Have been to your ground and had to walk to the uncovered side so I did not have to put up with drunken voices and abuses to officials. So may i tell you that one can have a drink if he wants to or can watch the game from the southern side under cover and sitting in the new year.So calm down man and relax.
Nigel, may I say that i always apreciate your comments whether i agree with them or not as you are always honest in your comments.
having talked to the club hierarchy ,the first part of your article is true but the rest have changed a long time ago.The grounds will stay as at present except fopr the small one behind the main pitch which will be converted to smaller ones for the juniors. No building blocks will go on any of that area as it would cost the council more money to subdivide than from the returns.
The club rooms are a very modern facility and I would say the best in the state. The club was not forced to join Burnie sports and events as you allow to be understood but members decided that, and I was there as well, initially for a three year period. However as I said before you are being honest and don't run away when your team loses like Bad Boy did this week.
"we win some and we lose some'.Fanaticism is never good.

  12. LOGAN - Are you trying to make me bite again, gee i shouldn't, but here goes?

Whats this about running away when we lose, you are losing it mate??? I thought that on Saturday I actually stayed on and refereed the "old Farts" (from under cover) straight after our loss to the Gers??? Get your facts straight before you open that big mouth mate???
As for the game, we never really looked the goods, and the Gers deserved the victory, no sour grapes here???

Only hassle is that after sitting and standing at the game for 4 hours, my leg blew up and I am still off work :(

  13. Sorry Bad Boy, I did not mean you run away from the grounds as I was not there to know.Had seen no comment from you about the gaqme, which you usually do and that was the running I meant.
As for bites...well every now and then iot is good for the spirit and the forum as it has been very quiet this week and unusual of the captain to keep so low after thjeir win...what did you do to him......
and finally hope you are able to return to work soon.

  14. I saw no need to comment on the game, as Nigel had reported the scores etc, and if you look back through the forum I haven't reported on any of our results since I left, so didnt know you expected one this week???

I have been going back through the junior and senior sides I have coached over the years, as the second name Logan rang a bell, did I coach you, or play with or against you?

  15. low gan ,
i think you have our teams mixed up once a red always a redbull
maybe you should relax (being the only ex emu on this site)
we have 1 undercovered side at our ground with great clubrooms on the other
maybe you could come off windly hill and have a cascade 1 day and see a whole game not just 1/2 .

  16. Bad Boy.. yes we do know each other and i will leave that there as it may otherwise take the fun out of the forum.
Red Bull...Find it hard to understand your comments...could you please express yourself in normal Australian English please.Looks like seeing the sun after a very long period of darkness affects our brain sometimes. If you are a real Red player or supporter then it is great to see your club come back from the dead.

  17. Hey Logan, in defense of our under cover area, come on, RSA stops any drunken behavior, its just rowdy supporters adding to the match atmosphere?

If you are really an ex Emu, surely you would be used to supporters offering advice to the officials, never heard a quiet game at any ground, especially at both our grounds :)

  18. Hi all

Recent banter seems somewhat trivial and unnecessary.
I'm a little perplexed by the need to use alternative monikers that may or may not lead to alternative perceptions. If I'm going to present an opinion on here I'm happy to put my name to it.
'Red Bull' - While I have played almost all of my life at Ulverstone and have two life member parents I could also meet the criteria of being an 'ex-emu' having played there for three years - including one Premiership. Many fond memories of my time there!

  19. Yeah, So who will make up top four?
    Port, Rangers, Knights, Somerset.
Somerset in most danger but they only need a point from their next 2 , against Knights and Olympic the 2 that can knock them out of the four. This week should decide 3 and 4 but it will be the last game Port v Burnie which decides the top spot.
What are pitches like? any chance of more postponed games?

  20. Chance the only way the Burnie v Port game will decide who finishes first is if Rangers and Port draw at the NTCA on Aug 15th. The equation is simple aprt from that Rangers win all 3 they win if Port win their next 3 they win. Burnie game then becomes irrelevant

  21. Ah RP your smarter than Bad Boy gives you credit for! and I like that you agree the Burnie v Port game will decide it.

  22. Bad boy I mean drunk people and not noisy supporters.Abusing officials is normal and we at Burnie had the best for that[God bless his soul].I find when watching launie up this way a bit queer that they are not as noisy with that breed.
Thanks Mitch my old mate we did have a very good time and missed you when you left but were also proud of your act to go back and help your then struggling club.
