  5. will be a cracker, wish i could watch

rangers are enjoying their football, but ulverstone is definitely not to be underestimated

for any potential spectators, keep an eye out for a boy called Brayden Mann (ulv), pretty sure he's no. 9...will be seeing a lot more of him in the future

  6. Has anyone heard anything about Metro Div 1 down South, will they even be a contest for Prospect, or will this be a thumping?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Metro Have Played 5 Won 4 Drawn 1 to be top of the ladder dont you worry they will be a team not to take lightley Darren Chafey will have these boys fired up for this to prove they belong in the Premier League down south will be tough for Prospect i think

    ReplyDelete
  8. I'm pretty sure Metro have three Scottish imports playing for them this year so they'll no doubt add a bit of quality. My tip is Metro 3 Knights 2!

  9. Devonport V Clarence Rod Andrews Old Club will Rod be able to stop the onslaught of the inform Veterean Cripsy whos two hatricks so far this season Andrews needs to be ready for this as Clarence have a very good back four will be an interesting game Good Luck to both teams my Tip Clarence 3 - 2

  12. Ulverstone V Rangers.
Jeff the wiggle is spot on, young Brayden plays up front, No.9 and knows where the goals are. Was a member of the TIS last year and has an extremely bright future ahead of him. Ulvie has needed a decent striker for a while now.

  13. For comments on Metro for this weekend see Walter Pless' site at http://walterplessonsoccer.blogspot.com

If you search you can also look at reports on their games from earlier in the season

    ReplyDelete
  14. They're only in Div 1...... big difference to Premier!!!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Not sure that you'll see abig difference between metro(Div 1) and Prospect. Taroona, also div 1, beat Knights 3-1 in Hudson cup. Metro will be tough oppositon, my prediction is that they will beat Knights comfortably. time will tell I could be wrong.
Nelson on the other hand no challenge there for Riverside, should be double figures.

  16. knight will loose, metro have the 3 scottish imports that seem to be playing well.knights might do well if they dont try to play that technical soccer, because they cant do it at all.

    ReplyDelete
  17. The young Ulvie striker definately has some class. Lets face it he wont improve much more if he stays there though.

    ReplyDelete
  18. you never know he might.the only way he will keep getting better in tassie is to keep doing the rep teams.ulvie might even get up to his standard.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Interesting to hear the negative comments about the Knights when they are the only team to take points off both Rangers and Devonport

    ReplyDelete
  20. Some results through:

    Devonport 0 Clarence 2
    Ulverstone 0 Rangers 3
    Prospect 1 Metro 0

  21. Somerset 4 Hobart Olympic 1

  22. an extremely enjoyable, tight game of football at prospect today

metro was relentless going forward, but unfortunately found Claxon in a defensive role playing like a man posessed...definitely a flashback to his form last year. but the hero was surely the PK goalkeeper Beardwood,in inspired form...at least 6 great saves, turning the game to his teams' favour

    ReplyDelete
  23. jeff the wiggle claxton showing form from last year?he must of had a bad game because he wasnt good at all last year in all the games i watched him play.He wouldnt even get a game at launie united reserves thats why he stays at the kites...

  24. Clarence vs Devanport
An even but sloppy game of end to end footy, won deservedly by Clarence and congratulations to them. Dev showed spirit in the 2nd half bout couldn't convert on a plethora of chances. But the games major talking point... the gmme was once again runied by none other than the world'd oldest (and most senial) referee harry dyer. Don't you think this bloke should be in an old person's home? Not only does he make poor decisions but he becomes the most influential person on the field and for a ref in soccer thats poor... two words: harry retire.

  26. Interesting to see that last years finalist devonport and south hobart are both out in round 1! !

  27. The Statewide cup is dying!
Its time we tried a State League again.
Once off matches are of no use.
You lose and you get a week off.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I agree with the Harry Dyer comment.
Having watch the Dev match, Clarence deserved the win! The played quick match. Clarence didnt let Dev play their passing game. They are a good young team.
I also got some good laughs from the side at the referees. The 2 sideline refs were of high... quality!!!!! Plus when you through them with a bloke who has no control of a game. It gave both teams some laughs.
Where is the person who rates the refs in the NW? None of them would pass. Dyer should return to Sunday games

    ReplyDelete
  29. We had Dyer a few weeks ago and he uses his cards to try and intimidate players. The sooner someone gives him the boot, the better off teams will be

    ReplyDelete
  30. If Harry wasnt there than some weeks games would have CLUB referees!!

How about a few annonymouses put their hand up and have a go instead!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I get your point that without referees there wouldn't be a game but I have to say I think Club officials would probably do a better job than Mr Dyer. There are more effective ways to make your point than to intimidate using cards!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I agree. He is one of the only referees that you cannot talk to after a bad tackle or ask anything. He just uses the cards as a power trip. I reckon a club referee would do better than him anyday.

    ReplyDelete
  33. how did the three southern refs go in the Ulverstone v rangers game?

    ReplyDelete
  34. yeh fairly well. had ivan a few years ago and has improved alot

    ReplyDelete
  35. Called in and had a look at Rangers V Ulvie games, Rangers fairly inmpressive had a few big guns out according to their spectators (Bremmner exams, TT away) but just did the business. Mark Ambrose great finish to make it 3 nil. No.31 strong at the back. reckon they can go all the way!

    Coaster

    ReplyDelete
  36. ivan was rubbish.turned up but made some woeful calls.ulverstone were great.up and coming team for sure.if they keep the young guys for a couple of years they will be strong.

    ReplyDelete
  37. you cant say that knights took points off rangers,as that they were lucky not to walk away with a double digits defeat.scoreda good equaliser but spent the rest of they day chasing the ball.cant comment on the dev game as i wasn't there, but would like to see the return score.would put money on it that it wont be the same score.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Rangers sat 10 players behind the ball most of the day and it worked to a treat. Exceptional finishes the last two goals. Ulv. had a lot of possession but couldn't score and didn't really look like it either.

    ReplyDelete
  39. So let me get this straight, when the Knights-Rangers game finished 1-1, Rangers took the 3 points and Knights 0 ???

I can say that Knights took points off Rangers because that is exactly what happened.

If you don't put more goals in the back of the net than the opposition then you don't deserve to win.

    ReplyDelete
  40. All the hype about Metro and their Scottish guy's was obviously not warranted. Were Prospect alot better??? What's the diference between Northern Premier and their Southern Div 1??

    ReplyDelete
  41. Nasty clash of strips at Somerset on Saturday??

    ReplyDelete
  42. From reading the examiner it sounds as if Prospect got away with another lucky win and had to rely on their gk to keep them out of trouble.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Maybe Rangers need to look in their own backyard first. If they had so many chances to bury Knights last month then surely they must be lacking strike power up front??
Pretty sure final score was 1-1.
As for Metro, Knights played 3 young boys and were missing experienced players Atherton and Balym who were both injured.
Kristan Beardwood is without a doubt the best gk in the Northern League on.

  44. I love all these anon comments, esspecially regarding old news, a 1 all draw with Rangers and Knights, which in the scheme of things doesnt mean a thing when we are talking about the state wide cup!!! when the title is won we can go back and harp on who took points off who, but at the end of the day, he who finishes with the most points wins, doesnt matter about goals, the way the teams played or who got to have a draw with who? And when it comes to the cup, really matters even less, if you win you progress, and knights were good enough to do that no mater who had the most chances, so good on them, and come on the northern Sides! we are in good shape to get the Milan Lick a lota sac cup back to the NPL!!!

Captain Australia (I cant fiund my bloody pass word!)

  45. Hobart Olympic were in White with a little blue shirt Blue Shorts and White Socks
Somerset with there normal blue and white hooped shirt blue shorts and socks there was no problem of telling who was who from were i was

    ReplyDelete
  46. Today's advocate has a picture of the Somerset v Olympic game and the colour clash looks pretty bad.

    ReplyDelete
  47. well put champ...a wins a win, and next round is coming up pretty fast

not too sure about ppl hiding behind the anonymous pseudonim and having a go at harry dyer...the man has been doing this for a while, and keeps turning up week in week out taking it all in stride...i do admit he makes an easy target, but until we find alternatives...

    ReplyDelete
  48. The Football Tas site says the draw for the next round of the cup will taken place at 4pm this Friday.

    ReplyDelete
  49. i've been reading on walters site about the 3 scottish blokes, where they any good?

mr mckenna what happened to you boys.where clarence good or? never seen them play so not sure.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Well Said Jeff until such time there are new referees Harry is still going to be there by now you should know what you get from Harry so the best thing to do is dont give him the chance just play the game

    ReplyDelete
  51. If Hobart Olympic had worn there proper strip then there would have been a problem at least they had an alternative strip more than some have.

    ReplyDelete
  52. The Scottish guy that played up front for Metro (not sure of his name #11) on Sat had some great touches and always looked dangerous over the ball.
Fair to say he would be a great asset for any premier league team north or south.

    ReplyDelete
  53. sounds like Beardwood is having a good year, but i'd be surprised if Marshall Pooley wasn't starting between the sticks for the north rep games again this year.

    ReplyDelete
  54. G'day Toddy, Clarence were good mate and it's fair to say that we weren't!! They got one midway through the first half from our error then i missed a sitter about 10 minutes later!! I am dead against ref bashing on blog sites but all i will say is the second goal shouldn't have come about (it wasn't the final decision that was the problem either). We probably had more chances than Clarence but didn't put them away & as we all know you don't win games if you can't score!! Ultimately the best side won and I must say I was very impressed with the Clarence boys though. Very disciplined in all aspects of the game and obviously listen to their coaches instructions. Top bunch of guys too & play in right spirit. We beat them last year in the cup semi final and they were far better this year. Definitely a side to watch out for. All the best to all the remaining teams (especially the Northerners & Clarence!)
Captain Aus - I agree with most of your comments but I'm sure if you have a good think about the name you put to the cup in your last post you'll probably regret it (hopefully anyway - especially when your club may be a good chance to win it). I know the same was done to you in an earlier post which was poor but hey that's just the way I see it.

By the way, Pooley is the best keeper in the league by a considerable margin - end of story. If you think there is better, you haven't seen enough football!!!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Rangers had a lucky win. Ulvie played better overall. Rangers just have better quality players and decided to work hard this year. A very discipline and hardworking team compared to previous years. And maybe even fitter because they are able to match Ulvie young and fit players. Ulvie will be a team to watch for the future. That young boy Joe need to play SOME lower level games like u18 because it is affecting his confident playing in Premier. Have seen him performing better.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Have to say that that was a pretty poor choice of words in reference to the Milan Lakoseljac Cup.. very disrespectful, but with who the response was from, its not a surprise.

    ReplyDelete
  57. i thought ulverstone were pretty unlucky. considering they had a lot more of the ball than rangers. but it was the same thing that happens every week, defensive errors and no one marking players in the box. but was a pretty good game and rangers put away their chances well

    ReplyDelete
  58. WAW WAW WAW!!! i believe Captain Australia had his name spelt with great disrespect at the NPL season launch - Lichencock!!!! Was bloody funny, but he did kick up a fuss! I wod think there is more to worry about than how some1 spells a greats name! I hope non of u knockers have ever laughed at the expense of one of the passed!

Ulvie very good team and will be a force if the kids stay together, seems to be the biggest challenge on the coast with Uni and jobs found elsewhere! Good on em, deserved more than a 3-0 loss, but sometimes teams get a lucky break, and Rangers got that with three assy goals! but you have to create them to kick em, and rangers did do that to their credit!

I saw the Prospect game, and say what you want about this mob! the lads can defend any team off the park and are always good for a goal a game, so if you cant score against them, they WILL win! and keeping goals out is just as important as putting them in!!!

About time this blog started to pick up, good to see some comments!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Sorry, I meant to say he (CA) didnt kick up a fuss, took well cosnidering!!! still makes me laugh!!!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Just home from training and it is intersting to read what someone wrote on my behalf?? I would like to set the record straight, I am the real Captain Australia, hense my blogger account, and no i have not lost my pass word for those concerend!!! it is safely stored in my phone in case I do forget it, and I have not lost my phone either, I guess these are the risks of running an open forum where you can post as an anonymouse blogger! catch 22, make everyone register and we wont get as much comment, but at least it will be safe and for the most part inteligent! governess, I think we need to make a decision on this pretty soon!

As for Lucky ranger win! footage should appear on mr videos site in next couple of days, you can make your judgment then lads! Ulvie good I agree, but Rangers did play pretty well second half and Im sorry to say, I cant remember feeling to stressed about Rangers coneeding on the weekend!

AS for the FFT season launch name tag miss hap, hmmmmm, I smell a shark stiring in the waters, wouldnt be anything to do with you would it mr Cocks? I think you may have had the pleasures in sharing in that joke!! no biggy, I even laughed at it, and I have framed the name tag and placed it in my pool room!

Should probably change my google account to that alias?

I hear Rangers and Knights will face off in the next round of the SWC!!!! what a ripper!

    ReplyDelete
  61. i thought it was a poor way to use tha name of the trophey with disrespect too. just as bad is someone trying to credit tha coment too someone else. poor taste people.
