  3. Read the post Amazed, but if Burnie fill a full strength team and take it seriously (hopefully they do), then the TIS will find it way harder than when they played a depleted Sharks team a few weeks back?

Agree though that if Burnie play to their best then at least the TIS will gain some invaluable experience?

  5. Strongest team fielded by Burnie against T.I.S a matter of opinion. However the Squad selected with second half goals by way of a bicycle kick from Sam Cocks and a cracking poachers from Captain Chris Smith was enough to see them overcome a well drilled Institute Eleven. T.I.S had the greater percentage of the play in the first half but could not break down
the Burnie Defence . A more determined Burnie in the second half with a strong performance from Kaimon Johnson and Mark Ambrose. An enjoyable match to watch with honest endevour from both sets of players and in entertainment values much superior to the days World Cup matches.

  6. Agree Gerry, good game to watch after half time when Burnie had a go (looked very disinterested first half). A couple of great goals (and a beauty disallowed), some great passing from both squads & fantastic keeping at both ends.

    ANY OTHER SCORES?

  8. gerry, as stated by the burnie coach himsel - it IS/WAS the strongest squad on paper that he has had to choose from this year...and don't worry, Burnie WILL knock off more than one top four side in the coming weeks! And could go further in the Statewide comp.
I too heard that TIS dominated possession but the lions share of chances went to Burnie. I, however wasnt at the game. Wish i was tho, couple of crcking goals apparently. South going to be hard to beat in this comp!?!

  9. Twang - Burnie had Ashley Smith, Sam Phillips Crole and Astyn Johnson and regular keeper out (some were late withdrawals) and yes first half TIS had possession and looked good, but Burnie looked only in 2nd gear, writing was on wall if they played to best.

2nd half Burnie had most possession and majority of chances with two top shelf goals and another disallowed. Both keepers best on ground, with TIS keeper positioning himself exceptionally well and making numerous quality saves.

Two Burnie players received injuries and would both be doubtful for next week?

Bugger, now Burnie is the only Northern team alive, maybe we are not as good in the North as Captain Tas thinks?
