  5. Have Prospect gone back to Western Knights or is everyone just calling them that?

  6. rangers hardly had a good strike on goal, maybe one i think i can remember. Ulvie just dominated the first half and didnt give rangers any time on the ball.. second half was just about even, the game was already won so it was more about match fitness than anything.

  7. well done ulverstone, good luck in the north west cup as well, a big task ,watch those referees with the colourful cards. not worth losing players for the regular season.

  8. Nothing to do with the Hudson Cup at all but thought i'd make comment on it somewhere.

Just looked over a draft copy of the 2010 roster and noted that the season starts the weekend before easter, and is playing on the easter saturday too!

If this is correct then its just another example of FFT showing a complete lack of intelligence.

    1. Im pretty sure both the NW and North have cricket finals on the 27th March (yes fft, Hard to believe but amny people play more than 1 sport!

    2. People have lives outside of sport, for many easter is a chance to have an extended break and possibly get away.

Would it not make sense to start the season the weekend after easter? Season finishes 2 weeks later (from personal experience there is normally a 4 or 5 week gap before summer sports start each year so we'd avoid any overlap!

  9. Alan

Draft Roster has been available for months.
If clubs raised issues and the roster hasnt changed then perhaps other considerations meant roster was best as is?

  10. Alan, I think FFTs drama is, that with a final series now, and what ever else has to go on, ground availabilities etc games ahve to be at Easter. The roster as I see it (and have checked) is pretty much a mirror image of 2009. Last season we started March 28th and played at Easter which was a week later last year (think Rangers had to go to Somerset). FFT have to do a lot of work to get rosters right and try to help clubs out where possible. I agree Easter people do go away but as amazed points out sometimes things have to fit in around what suits the corporate good, obviously FFT believe to fit in the games they need and to allow for catch up games, which were flicking up evrywhere last year, we need to get games in that weekend. My 2 bobs worth.

  11. Thats fine, Just my opinion guys.
I haven't been involved in a club or playing for 18 months so what the clubs have had to say about rosters I'd have absolutley no idea. If I was involved i'd certainly voice my above opinion.

From my point of view we need all the players we can get playing soccer in the North and North West. Numbers have dropped a heap since I started playing senior soccer 13 or 14 years ago. My points above certainly dont help that cause. I know of many people who have difficulty year in year out trying to keep there summer and winter sports teams happy, it only makes it harder when the seasons now overlap. Inevitably one sports normally get wiped and for some reason in the cases i know of its always been soccer.

    again, my opinion only.
